Accessing the Timer from the Control Center
In this lesson for the Clock app on the iPhone we look at how we add the Timer Control to the Control Center and how we can access various Timer functions from the Control Center without opening the Clock app.
Adding the Timer Control to the Control Center
The first thing we need to do is add the Timer Control to the Control Center. This is very similar to how we added the Alarm and Stopwatch Control to the Control Center I demonstrated in earlier lessons. To add the Timer Control to the Control Center, you need to go to the Settings app on your iPhone. In the Settings app is a setting for Control Center. When you tap on this setting, you’ll see Customize Controls. When you tap on this you will see Include. These are the Controls that are in your Control Center currently. Below this list of included Controls, you will more controls you can add. Tap on the green ‘+’ next to Timer. When you do that, the Timer Control will move to the included controls. You can now access the Timer from the Control Center on your iPhone.
Using the Timer Control from the Control Center
To access the Timer from the Control Center all you need to do is open the Control Center and tap on the Timer Control. When you do this, the Clock app will open to the Timer.
Setting the Timer from the Control Center
In addition to opening to the Timer in the Clock app from the Control Center, you can also set the amount of time you want your Timer to be set for from the Control Center. To do this you tap and hold on the Timer Control in the Control Center. When you do this, you’ll see options for setting the time. once you set the time, press Start and your Timer will start.
Checking the Status of a Timer from the Control Center
If a Timer is set, you can check the status of a Timer, or how much time is left, by going in to the Control Center and tapping and holding on the Timer Control. You can also pause the timer at this point as well.
