Burning Music CDs
In this lesson for iTunes on the Mac, we look at how we can share our music in iTunes by burning music to a CD.
The first thing you’ll need is a CD burner. Newer Macs do not have them built in anymore, but you can find external CD burners easily on the web. Most CD burners will work with the Mac nowadays.
Creating a Playlist
When you burn your music to a CD, what you are actually doing is burning a playlist that you created. Once you have a CD burner available, the next thing you’ll do is create a playlist and add the music you want on a CD to that playlist. You’ll want to make sure you do not add too many songs to this playlist. Most CDs are about 45 minutes long. If you get much longer, some CD players will not play it. You can see how long your playlist is by looking below the playlist name in iTunes.
Burning a Playlist to a CD
Now that you have your playlist made with the music you want, all you need to do is control-click, hold down the control key and click, on the playlist in the sidebar. You’ll see a menu popup with an option to burn a CD. Just select this and follow what iTunes tells you – basically insert a blank CD in the CD/DVD burner.
